Below is some information on the Temporary Rent Assistance Benefit that is available in Edmonton right now. The Temporary Rent Assistance Benefit is an awesome program that the Provincial Government has implemented.
TRAB is a rental assistance benefit that provides a modest subsidy for working households with a low income, or for those between jobs. The benefit is paid directly to the recipient through automatic deposit.
To be eligible for TRAB, a recipient must:
- be below local income thresholds;
- be employed or have been employed in the last 24 months; and
- not be receiving social assistance.
Unlike other affordable housing programs, TRAB does not include point scoring and applicants are prioritized on a first-come, first-served basis.
The process for TRAB applications has been streamlined and please expect a quick turnaround. For more information, and to access the TRAB application form, please visit their website.
For those on social assistance (or other public supports), who are not eligible for TRAB, they may be eligible for the Rent Assistance Benefit. Please do encourage your residents to apply for this regulated benefit here.
